In 2004 he was the overall winner at the first Shinjuku Spoken Words Slam.

Takatsuki's tracks are essentially abstract hip-hop, clearly encompassing a wide range of influences from black music such as soul, jazz, reggae, and gospel, and his relatable, poetic lyrics are brimming with personality and humour. In his well-organised and energetic live performances with the "Takatsuki Band", Takatsuki raps and plays double bass, while Takeuchi Kazutake from A Hundred Birds handles electronic piano, and Peach Iwasaki from Copa Salvo plays drums. Takatsuki has earnt himself a great number of fans around the world, including many who don't normally listen to hip-hop, and also has official distribution in France.
