Dakshina Mohan Tagore has been played on NTS shows including Raga Vibrations, with Raga Yaman first played on 17 January 2026.

Dakshina Mohan Tagore (1915-1986) was born in Calcutta as a member of the famous Tagore family of Bengal. He grew up in an environment fond of music and fine arts and got his first lessons in singing from his mother, in playing Sitar and Esraj from one of his grand-father and an uncle respectively. His father, a famous freedom-fighter and a colleague of Sri Aurobindo, after serving a long term in prison, retreated to the Himalayas to lead a life of an ascetic. At the time D.M.Tagore was a boy of 14. At the age of 16 he became a member of the Indian Radio Orchestra. The poet Rabindranath Tagore invited him to his university at Santiniketan, where he was an examiner in instrumental music for many years. D.M. Tagore preferred to play rare instruments. Next to Dilruba, which is introduced at length in this recording for the first time, he was a master in Taar Shehnai, Mandar Bahar and Territ Vina.
