Zambian folk singer. Born in eastern Zambia, blind, he rose to become junior Minister of Culture, and arguably the country’s most popular folk singer. Born in Malambo area in Eastern Province in 1946, Tembo had full sight until at the age of eight when he went blind while he was still a pupil at a mission school there. He died in the 1990s.
