Hogg

Hogg has been played on NTS in shows including 239EF, featured first on 31 May 2018. Songs played include Confidence, Money and Black Into Dirt.

There are several bands called HOGG

1-) Hogg is an experimental performance duo that sounds like a conglomerate of hardcore, industrial, and noise. Emma Sims and Hanna Elliott both from Atlanta, GA now residing in Chicago, IL started performing HOGG in 2014. The duo take inspiration from artists such as David Wojnorowicz, Lee Lozano, Chris Burden, and Paul Mccarthy. The title of the group refers to the Samuel Delaney book titled 'Hogg,' which revolves around the perspective of a young boy who engages in sexual acts with a degenerate trucker who works with a gang of rapists. The performance and music act as an aggressive and absurd response to the extreme states being: love, sex, death, birth, violence. The absurdity in the content spawns from a hysterical feeling of futility and helplessness to the destructive quality of human nature. The content of the music revolves around subliminal manipulation, capitalism, spirituality, sex, chauvinism, symbolism, existentialism, and nihilism. Their first release was a tape put out and mastered in 2015 by NihilistRecords, run by Andy Ortmann of Panicsville .

2-) Hogg is a 4-piece Heavy Rock/Stoner band from Thessaloniki, Greece. The current line-up consists of George Cobas (vocals), Babis (Guitars), Panos (Bass) and Apostolis (Drums). The band first got together by Babis and their ex-drummer Billy in early 2009, to originally work on some ideas they had. After a few sessions they asked George Cobas [Jaw Bones, ex-Dusteroid (UK)] to join the band as a singer. In just a couple more sessions Bassist Panos (ex-2L8) completed the line-up of the band back then. With a couple of drummer changes in the band, eventually Apostolis (The Crazed) filled the position in September 2011. The band’s sound incorporates influences such as Kyuss, Orange Goblin, Danzig, Fu Manchu etc.

The band performed live for the first time in mid 2009 and since then they’ve gigged in venues in Salonika including Block33 and 8Ball Club, as supporters to bands like Therapy?, Samsara Blues Experiment, Nightstalker and will support Orange Goblin soon. Hogg has been described as a very intense live act and have always received a great response from the crowd. A core fun base has also been created that follows the band to almost all of their shows.

The first 10-track self titled album came out via BandCamp on 26-07-2012 is available on CD format since September 2012 as a DIY release. The future plans are to tour it as much as possible, and they have already material for later releases.

3-)Ex-singer of South London rockers Moke, John Hogg also briefly played with the Black Crowes' Rich Robinson in side project Hookah Brown.

John Hogg (under the name of just Hogg) will release his long awaited debut solo album in the first half of 2006 on Fruit Pie Records.

4-)Grinding metal-core from Providence RI. The band formed in 1998 from the fallout of legendary Providence bands: Sleestack, Taming Butterflies and Giant Robot. The band has been steadily building up a following in RI, MA, CT and NY where they play often. With post- apocalyptic lyrics, crushing guitars, and all-encompassing rhythms, the sound can only be described as bloody, sonic warfare. Any previous notions of music will be fervently laid to waste by Hogg. Grinding metal-core from Providence RI.
