Jarmo Sermilä (born August 16 1939 , Hämeenlinna ) is a Finnish composer.

Sermilä studied at the University of musicology and was completed in 1975 . He also studied composition in Prague and at the Sibelius Academy , where he earned a diploma in 1975. Between 1976-2010 , he led the release of recordings and sheet music Jasemusiikki , the company, which was subsequently transferred to the Danish Wilhelm Hansen-ownership of the company. All the company's history, Sermilä served as a Managing Director, and at the same time he had a number of posts in various organizations. The best time of his life, he has appointed a 12 years-running artistic director trhtävässä Viitasaaren new music, Time of Music Festival Artistic Director. He was awarded the title of Professor in 2004 .

Sermilä is composed primarily of chamber and electronic music, but also for orchestra and performing music.
