There are at least 3 artists with this name:

1) Cold War were a brusque, efficient, bass-led post-punk outfit from Essex, England. The band flourished out on the left-field of what was known as anarchopunk with industrial rhythms and brittle Gang Of Four-style guitars. Their releases include 3 cassettes (1982 demo, "Irrational" & "Live At The Autonomy Centre Wapping 18-10-81"), and the rare and cult "The Machinist/Illusion" 7-inch single from 1983. They were also featured in a few post-punk compilations. More info can be found at Kill Your Pet Puppy.

2) A hardcore band from Orange County, California formed in early 2002 and currently disbanded. The band also credit "The Rookie" as supplying samples for the album, which basically consisted of background noises and film excerpts to add to the overall sound of the music.

3) A powerviolence band from Berlin, Germany. They formed in 2005 and split up in May 2009.

4) A post-punk/no-wave band from San Francisco, CA formed in 2003 and split in 2006. www.thecoldwar.net
