Confusing Mix w/ Josh da Costa: Chrome Special

Focus on Chrome

"An hour long mix dedicated to one of my all time favorite bands, Chrome. Comprising mainly of Helios Creed and the late Damon Edge, Chrome is a group whose music is as murky as their mysterious yet well-documented existence.

They emerged adjacent to the San Francisco punk scene in the late 70s, although seemingly thrived in their own unique bad vibe vacuum. Quasi-industrial, cyberpunky, and emphatically dystopian, they remain peerless but have been covered by similarly influential bands like Butthole Surfers and sampled by the likes of experimental rapper Saul Williams. Chrome’s distinct sonic palette and striking aesthetic are near and dear to many musicians and artists who strive to create their own language. They released a series of fascinating records for more or less a decade, each one a masterclass in worldbuilding.

Hopefully this mix serves as an introduction to their beautiful and twisted universe for the uninitiated and a nice reminder for those who are, like me, already big fans."
