Focus on Janet Kay

A descendant of Jamaican national hero Paul Bogle, London-born Janet Kay made her own indelible mark on pop music history. Her early single - the Dennis Bovell-produced "Silly Games" - shot to the top of the charts in the UK, making her the first British woman reggae artist to reach the position. She was soon dubbed the "Queen of Lovers Rock", and showcased her talent for writing aching, catchy love songs on her debut album "Capricorn Woman". Kay branched out endlessly, writing and collaborating throughout the 1980s and 90s, scoring TV themes, and taking to the stage in theatre productions.
