Time Is Away - DoE (Can a Tape Machine Improvise?)
Time Is Away and somewhere else every month on NTS. Each hour-long show uses music, alongside snippets of spoken word, to produce something that is part soundscape, part essay for the radio. Host portraits by Robin Silas Christian (@makinabooks)
From the host: "This recording is the only surviving long-form tape collage made by Kurt Rapp during his time at the the Department of Euterpe (DoE). Efforts to identify its constituent parts suggest it cannot have been made any earlier than 1987. Research is ongoing."
