Turian

Turian has been played on NTS in shows including ZULI, featured first on 11 May 2021. Songs played include Texture.

TURIAN is a Seattle, Washington–based band often described under the banner of ‘New Future Heavy Metal’, fusing metallic hardcore, noise rock, hardcore, and experimental electronics. Their music explores themes of ancestral grief, identity, and resistance, especially within Indigenous and postcolonial contexts.

The group first emerged with Voiceless (2017) and The Near Room (2018), which introduced their raw fusion of noise, metal, and cathartic intensity. Spiral & The Hermit (2020) followed as a transitional EP, leading into their self-titled album TURIAN (2020), where Ryan Moon handled vocals and the trio’s dense, noise-laden sound began taking shape.

In 2022, they returned with No Longer Human, marking the debut of new vocalist Vern Metztli-Moon. This lineup shift pushed their music into even darker, more confrontational territory. On June 6, 2025, TURIAN released Blood Quantum Blues, melding metallic hardcore, noise rock, and electronic elements with deeply personal lyrics centered on colonialism, ancestral memory, and survival. Standout tracks include “Mache”, “Blood Quantum Blues”, and “Spill.”

As of Blood Quantum Blues, the lineup consists of Vern Metztli-Moon (vocals), Cris Sanchez (bass), Andrew Nyte (drums), Ryan Metztli-Moon (guitar), and Carlye Nyte (electronics).

TURIAN’s fearless collision of ferocity and vulnerability, electronics and ritual, positions them among the most distinctive and uncompromising voices in the modern heavy underground.
