Fay Ray has been played on NTS shows including Forager Records, with Contact You first played on 12 September 2023.

Formed in Bangor, North Wales in 1980 from the ashes of Hot Water and proto-punk band Dick Dick & the Dicks.

Fay Ray were:

Sheila Brook - vocals/guitar Owen Hughes - drums John Lovering - guitars Jeff Taylor - sax/vocals Tony Travis - bass/vocals

The band signed to Surrey Sound Records (owned by Police producer, Nigel Gray) in 1981 after being spotted at first London gig supporting Killing Joke.

Went on to record debut single "Family Affairs", which was Melody Maker's joint record of the week with "Reward" and "(I'm in love with) A German Film Star".

Then licensed to Warner Brothers in Europe/UK and Elektra in the States. Under this deal, they recorded the "Contact You" album and released a further single - "(Waiting for the) Heatwave".

The band split in 1982 after WEA failed to take up the second year option of the five year deal.

The band are still in touch with each other and reformed for a one-off reunion gig in North Wales in February 2007.
