There are at least two bands called The Odds.
Formed in 1978, The Odds were a British new wave / ska band from Hull, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, fronted by Simon 'Sam' Leyland. Their début single, 'Saturday Night' (1979), was the first release on Red Rhino Records. This was followed by a ska version of 'Yesterday Man' (1980) and a third single called 'Dread In My Bed'. There were line-up changes for every single; Leyland was always there. Guitarist and saxophonist on 'Saturday Night' was Stewart Matthewman, who left in 1980, teamed up with a singer called [artist}Sade[/artist] and co-wrote many of her biggest hits.
The sound of The Odds is brought to you by four musicians drawing influence from a diverse array of bands and artists from the last 60 years. They initially formed in 2005. 2009 saw a collection of profile gigs and small festivals around the United Kingdom. They are past winners of the British 'Battle of the Bands' final.
