Reverend Kriss Hades is an artist from Sydney, Australia who is proficient at painting, drawing, playing and composing guitar and multimedia. He has had an art show and has played numerous concerts that are bending the norms of what live music and art constitute. If his influences had to be chosen, one would say he stemmed from Black Metal. His live performances usually consist of him standing robed on stage furiously playing improvised guitar over basic backing music which changes with each performance. This aural experience is accompanied by a multimedia display which fits the mood of the music. It is projected behind him onto a large screen which he stands in front of. Depending on the emotion of the music, the projection changes; some scenes shown are of flowing water, raging flames and moving clouds.
The stage performance is never the same. He uses different equipment, guitar effects, playing styles and often has guest members such as vocalists to vary his performance, although the mood always revolves around the central themes of depression, anger and anti-Christianity.
His level of involvement does not stop at a multimedia presentation and guitar solo though. He plays extensively home-modified equipment and manipulates them on stage with various implements to create unique sounds and imagery. I have seen him using a vibrator (sexual toy), a large knife and a power sander which he takes to his guitar violently with but it serves a higher purpose than the obvious destruction and violence, the unique sounds are transcending what can be done with a simple guitar pick and fingering.
