Yuri da Cunha is an Angolan musician born in the kwanza-Sul county in the borough of Sumbe. His music career sarted in 1994, when he won a music street competition sponsored by "kaluanda Pio" (a competition specifically for young kids). In 2004, Yuri was rewarded with "Top Radio Luanda" with his song "Makumba".

Yuri is one of the most recognized talents of semba and kizomba music.
