Synopsis

There are multiple artists recording under the name Synopsis:

1) Progressive rock band founded in Tallinn, Estonia in 1977 by principal members Igor Garsnek (keyboards) and Nevil Blumberg (guitar). In 1980, a relatively stable lineup was formed, but after a year the band went on indefinite hiatus, and their early recorded material remains unreleased to this day.

In 1984 Blumberg and Garsnek briefly revived the band, released a self-titled album in 1986. It was later reissued on CD by Czech/Russian label Boheme Records in 2000. The group had already disbanded by the time this record was released. Blumberg joined a jazz rock band called Radar, and Garsnek joined the Estonian prog band Ruja.

2) Symphonic progressive rock band founded in Nancy, France in the late 1970s, consisting of Christian Bolzé (keyboard, vibraphone), Christian Hoff (guitar), Michel Bail (vocals), Michel Resler (bass), and Patrick Marcel (drums).

Their first album "Minuit Ville" was released in 1979 under SRC. Christian Bolze and Christian Hoff were credited with the songwriting, with the arrangements credited to the full band. For the recording and release of "Gamme" in 1980 under F.L.V.M., Raymond Keller and Maike Ravonison joined for guitar and vocal duties respectively.

3) German free jazz improv quartet founded in 1973 by Ulrich Gumpert, Günter Dobrowolski, Gerd Lübke and Günter Sommer. After the dropout of Dobrowolski and Lübke in 1974, Conrad Bauer and Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky joined.

4) Ukrainian metalcore band formed in 2010.

5) Progressive metalcore band formed in Brno, Czech Republic, in 2022.

6) Recording alias of Bernie Neave, who released multiple Berlin School style electronic records in the 1990s and 2000s.

7) French metal band that released one independent EP, Dream of Glory, in 2001.

8) Enigmatic artist that contributed a self-titled track to the FOUReM: Original Dance 12" released under the UK dance label Blockhouse in 1992.
