Kosmetika has been played on NTS shows including Around the World in 7 Record Stores, with Strawberry Needles first played on 11 May 2024.

Dive into the unique world of Kosmetika, a band that brings together musicians from different parts of the globe, unified in the city of Naarm. The group paints a mesmerising fusion of gritty guitars, crisp bass lines and unforgettable scathing synthesisers, which transport the listener into Kosmetika’s own fantastic universe.

Formed by Veeka Nazarova from Khabarovsk and Mikey Ellis from Tāmaki Makaurau, Kosmetika blends elements of fuzz-pop, new wave, and krautrock. The mix of Russian and English lyrics adds a unique flair to their music, enriching it with more colourful layers.

Gaining attention in early 2018 with their single ‘Ya Uedu’ characterised by its fuzzy indie-rock sound, their debut album ‘Pop Soap’ showcases the breadth of their talent. The album features tracks varying from '90s slacker pop to the intense, layered sounds reminiscent of the early Dandy Warhols.

In their latest record ‘Illustration’ which came out in early 2023, the band takes heavy inspiration from Shoegaze, synth wave and Russian pop goth music. The album is led by captivating synth sounds, intricate drum machine, melodic bass lines and odd-form structures while maintaining their usual pop sensibilities.
