Vernon & Burns has been played on NTS shows including Music To Ease Your Disease, with Capitalism Vs C.R.O.T.C.H. (Always Thinking Suitcase) first played on 12 October 2024.

Vernon & Burns are a duo of sound makers who create radio plays, records and performances through an innovative mix of samples, field recordings, voice and music. Dredging the kleptomanic plunderground, this singular double act in stereo create aural mystery from oral history. Rarely agreeing upon anything, their music is a tug-of-war between music hall and musique concrète. From the gently sublime to the raucously ridiculous they create a soundtrack to the notion of nonsense.

Performed across Europe, their eclectic live act encompasses everything from ventriloquism and magic to music hall and slapstick. They have produced work for radio stations including the BBC, VPRO, Resonance FM and WFMU. Their second LP for Felix Kubin’s Gagarin label, ‘The Light at the End of the Dial' was released earlier this year and a CD album culled from sessions recorded for VPRO’s ‘Dwars’ programme is out now in Staalplaat’s ‘Mort Aux Vaches’ series. They have also recorded with Lied Music as Boy Band Tax Returns for the Ultra Eczema label. The second instalment in this collaboration, ‘Vernon & Burns meet Lied Music’ is due for imminent release as a new LP on the Shadazz label.
