Cute Door

Cute Door has been played on NTS shows including Andras , with Drool first played on 6 November 2024.

Cute Door is the electrifying musical alias of Dani Arnica (b. 1994, Rochester, NY), a New York-based artist. Her sound fiercely blends bubblegum bass and bedroom pop, with a raw, experimental edge, often leaning into cloud rap, noise, and ambient. A classical piano prodigy, Dani's journey from Gameboy chiptune to her current style instilled a "perfectionist" drive, evident in her meticulously crafted, visceral sound.

Cute Door's discography is a thrilling, layered descent into self-expression. It began in 2016 with Engagement, a raw and playful debut exploring control and explicit sexuality. This led to 2020's Night School, with a darker and more experimental sound, marked by heavy, metallic basslines, trap influences, and a sassy, hauntingly sticky atmosphere. Following this, Night Mix (2021)—her first official remix album—dove deeper into the night, exploring new genres, enriched by nocturnal field recordings from her old high school sports field which she described as "beautiful, buggy, and absolutely terrifying." In 2023, the unsettling Revenge EP emerged, directly confronting trauma. Her journey continued with the Perfect EP (2024), a trap-infused collaboration with producer VOOR, with a distinct nightly mystic. This directly led to her second official remix album Perfect Mix (2025), where she brilliantly re-imagines tracks into pounding club anthems.

Drawing inspiration from childhood obsessions like Gwen Stefani, the defiant energy of Eartha Kitt, the experimental soundscapes of 18+ (which she playfully admits to "ripping off"), and the uncanny performances of Laura Dern, Cute Door's songwriting is direct, explicit, and brimming with evocative imagery. Her unique blend of insistent rhythms and a confrontational tone invites listeners into her unforgettable artistic vision.
