Ann Saunderson

Ann Saunderson has been played on NTS in shows including The Hot Selection, featured first on 3 March 2013. Songs played include Blackwater (KSR Instrumental), Blackwater (String Vocal) and Blackwater (Full Strings Vocal Mix).

Born in Birmingham, England into a musical family, Ann Saunderson, babygirl of the Nanton clan, (consisting of 5 children), began her musical journey singing in the school choir at the age of 16 years olds. Looking to pursue her love for music as a career,(just as her older brother Michael had done, keyboardist for Reggae acts Beshara and Pato Banton & the Reggae Revolution), Ann moved to London in 1987. London presented its own set of challenges for young Ann (not making Mom too happy), but her voice was her guide and music was in her soul. A chance meeting in 1988 at a music publishers office introduced her to her future husband and musical partner, Kevin Saunderson. With Kevin, Ann, (now Mrs. Saunderson), embarked on a next stage of her musical evolution. As lead vocalist of Kaos she recorded and co-wrote the dance track Definition of Love released on KMS Records and subsequently released on Big Life/UK. The release of the record also marked the birth of the first of her and Kevins three sons. This brought a whole new love and direction to Anns already hectic life. The music might have to wait for awhile, but her voice could never be silenced. During this period of raising her every growing family, Ann managed to co-writer and perform background vocals for husband Kevins Inner City (Big Fun and Fire albums) and Reese Project (Faith Hope & Clarity album), record under pseudonym Surreal (providing her vocal talents to the cover of Sades Pearls), lend her voice to and co-write with Dave Lee (You're Not Alone), Slam (Lie to Me), Agoria (Worth It), Komix, Donatella Movement, Slo Moshun (Help My Friend), Love Revolution (Love Revolution), Antoinette Roberson (Move It), Serial Diva (Keep Hope Alive) and Octave One among many others. With Octave One she found her greatest success as a vocalist to date with the anthem Blackwater (being showcased on over 20 compilation albums and selling over 1 million combined copies worldwide). Recognizing her gift, Octave One tapped her to work on their first complete studio album The Theory of Everything. On Theory, Ann co-wrote Wish I Was and provided lead vocals and co-wrote World U Know, It Aint Easy (with rapper P.Gruv), and the club anthem Somedays. In late 2005, with the Burden brothers (Octave One), Ann began work on her first solo album (yet to be titled) slated for release in late 2006.
