Hanatarash

Hanatarash has been played on NTS over 20 times, featured on 21 episodes and was first played on 11 April 2015.

ハナタラシ (Hanatarash) were a Japanese noise entity comprising of Yamaysuka eYe (of Boredoms et.c.) and Mitsuru Tabata (of Zeni Geva). They formed in the early to mid 1980s having met as stage hands for Einstürzende Neubauten. The name comes from the word “hanatarashi” which literally translates as “the sniveler” or “the snot-nosed”. After a brief period as Hanatarashi, the band dropped the “i” as a statement against the concept of the individual. Their legacy is of literal destruction. Hanatarash folklore is perhaps more commonly known than the bands deeply inaccessible noise music.
