Pahama is the name of a vocal group from Bandung. The name which is an acronym for the last names of the main personnel. The new formation of this group consists of Raymond Pattirane, Jefferey Pattirane, Denny Hatami, Bram Manusama, I Ketut Riwin, Dianne Carruthers, and Ary Malibu. In 1976 this folk/pop style group became the national champion for Teenage Radio and TV Stars thanks to their rendition of the song "Going to Return" by Minggoes Tahitu and a Maluku folk song "When it Rains Sore - Sore".
Apart from the name Pahama they are also often referred to as Bimbo Ambon. Why is it called that? Maybe it's because the dominant personnel are Ambonese, and also their musical style is considered similar to that of the Bimbo group. Not surprisingly, Raymond's father, John Pattirane, is a well-known vocal teacher in Bandung who has successfully galvanized Bimbo. With the reasons mentioned above, it is not a coincidence that Pahama and Bimbo have their own "kinship", so that finally Bimbo wants to produce their debut album titled Pahama Vol 1. Pahama's specialty lies in the detailed and accurate vocal distribution technique. No wonder their album was ranked 108th in the category of the 150 Best Indonesian Albums, according to Rolling Stone's December 31, 2007 edition.
