Joël Fajerman

Joël Fajerman has been played on NTS over 10 times, featured on 17 episodes and was first played on 3 November 2014.

Joel Fajerman is a French musician, born in 1948 in Paris.

He played piano from a young age (5 years), and at age 13 started learning guitar. After leaving school at 17, he joined a rock band, then toured in the 60s and 70s with entertainers like Nicoletta, Mike Brandt, Dario Moreno and Claude Francois. He also recorded as part of a ye-ye group called "The Little Mornings" in 1974, published on Claude Francois' label. His meeting with the pianist Pierre Porte, with whom he produced many 45s, led to him discovering his own signature sound involving synthesizers, keyboards and arrangements.

In 1978, he composed his first instrumental piece for Nippon Japan. In France, he opened one of the first stores selling organs and synthesizers in Paris, Phonorgan, with Dominique Alas, the importer of the brand Korg.

During this period he became friends with Francis Rimbert, who did synthesizer demonstrations, as well as crossing paths with major artists such as Michel Colombier (then working for Barbara) and Jean Michel Jarre. His career took off at the turn of the 80s, after he composed the end credits of the French game show "Treasure Hunt" starring the adventurer Philip Dieuleveult in 1981.

He is also famous for having created the famous theme song for "L'Aventure Des Plantes", a documentary series by the botanist Jean-Marie Pelt and journalist Jean-Pierre Cuny, released in 1979 on Antenne 2.
