Gust Gils (August 20, 1924 to November 11, 2002) was a poet of Antwerp. Gust Gils was one of the founders of the avant-garde magazine Sivik Gard (1954). He was also the editor of Podium.

His works have appeared in the absurd and bundles Para Prose anthologies Hideous pink yogurtman (1972) and my duty to forget work (1994).

Gust Gils was born on August 20, 1924 in Antwerp. He was operated on the margins, but was involved in various art forms. At a young age made the Antwerp has drawings, paintings, monotypes, drypoint, etchings, linocuts and woodcuts. At the beginning of the fifties Gils sculpting, primarily wood. During the same period he began to write poems.

In 1953 appeared in the debut of Gils house (score for legumes) and in 1954 the poet stood at the cradle of Flemish, experimental magazine Gard Sivik, named after the jazz cafe in Antwerp. Gilson later he joined the editorial staff of Performing Arts.

Gilson's oeuvre is characterized by a strong musical influence (see the titles of some poems that contain the word "score" numbers). The poet himself claimed that his poetry an "aural" nature. Gils heard his poems and found that even above should be read aloud. Important here is not the musicality of the verse, or the rhythm. Later Gils the twilight zone between poetry and music to explore further into "verbosonische" experiments.
