Cherrelle (born Cheryl Anne Norton on 13 October 1958) is an American R&B singer and songwriter who rose to prominence during the mid-1980s. She is known for songs such as "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On", "Where Do I Run To", and "Everything I Miss at Home", as well as for duets with Alexander O'Neal including "Saturday Love" and "Never Knew Love Like This". She also appeared on the single "Always" with her cousin Pebbles.

Cherrelle was born in Los Angeles, California. Her father, James Feaster, was a Detroit attorney who also served as her manager. Early in her career she worked with musicians including Norman Connors and Michael Henderson and toured with Luther Vandross. After hearing her demo recording, Tabu Records founder Clarence Avant signed her to the label in 1983. She adopted the stage name Cherrelle, reportedly inspired by a former employer calling out her name at work.

In 1984 she released her debut album "Fragile", produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The album included the R&B top ten single "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On". The song was later recorded by Robert Palmer for his 1985 album "Riptide". In 2001 Mariah Carey also recorded a version for the soundtrack album "Glitter".

Cherrelle’s second album, "High Priority", was released in 1985 and was certified gold. It included the single "Saturday Love", a duet with Alexander O'Neal, which reached number two on the US R&B chart and number six on the UK Singles Chart. Cherrelle and O'Neal later recorded another duet, "Never Knew Love Like This", which reached number 28 on the US pop chart and number two on the R&B chart in 1988. A remixed version of "Saturday Love" was released in the United Kingdom in 1990 and reached number 55 on the UK Singles Chart.

Her third album, "Affair", was released in 1988 and included the R&B number one single "Everything I Miss at Home". The album’s title track, "Affair", also charted on the R&B chart, reaching number four.

Cherrelle’s cousin is singer Pebbles, and she is the aunt of Brandi Williams of the group Blaque. She also collaborated with Pebbles and Johnny Gill on the 1991 single "Always", which reached the top 20 of the R&B chart. That same year Cherrelle released the album "The Woman I Am", which was produced by Narada Michael Walden rather than Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. In 1999 she reunited with Jam and Lewis for the independently released album "The Right Time", which included a guest appearance by rapper Keith Murray.

Cherrelle is a soprano vocalist. Critics have noted the light and airy quality of her voice and her ability to convey emotion in her recordings.
