Emma Beko and Gabrielle Godon met when they were 9 and have shared their passion for music and dance - especially hip-hop and rap culture - ever since.
Emma was born in Budapest but her soul shares residency in Montreal, New York and Peru. She finished high school in New York, which had a strong impact on her cultural education and fired her determination to strive in the male dominated culture where famous artists such as Notorious B.I.G. and Nas created their legacies.
Gabrielle Godon, a Montreal native who loves gospel and soul music, has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her sultry R&B voice was always the center of attention, whether at home, on the school bus or in the playground.
Through a serendipitous meeting with Nathan Balaga they decided to come together to play and record “something”, which turned out to be their first EP (titled Debut EP), released in April 2011. Gabrielle’s magnificent voice and Emma’s gifted raps complement each other beautifully and their lyrics are as fresh and smart as these two exceptional young artists. Their music produced by A+ Milton and Balaga is a meshing of creative ideas, producing a unique sound for hip-hop. The lethal mix of these two girls has grown into Heart Streets, formerly known as Street Hearts, a female Montreal based hip-hop duo.
