Louf

Louf has been played on NTS shows including Midnight Marauders w/ Marshmello, with Times Were Simpler first played on 13 October 2018.

Louis Fitton AKA Louf has built a name for himself alongside Tom VR with Valby Rotary, a Leeds-based record label that focuses on releasing emotive club music. Drawing inspiration from producers such as Traumprinz, Willow and Youandewan, Louf creates melancholic, club-focused house tracks. Louis comes from a Hip Hop production background, inspired by lo-fi beat-makers like Knxwledge and Flying Lotus, but after going to university in Leeds and discovering underground club music, whilst building up a collection of drum machines and synthesisers, he began making house and techno. With two successful EPs on Valby Rotary, and one EP with Thirty Year Records, Louis has gained support from DJs such as Mall Grab and Gilles Peterson. Louis’ sampling background has influenced his production methods; he will often grab well-known acapellas and warp them into unrecognisable melodic patterns. All of his tracks feature pads and bass lines from his Prophet 8 synthesiser and drum hits from his Vermona DRM 1, often recorded as a live performance, and then structured into full tracks. His DJ sets often feature his own productions, mixed with dubbed-out house and techno records. He prefers warm-up sets, weaving from ambient records to groovier drum machine-led house music.
