HISTORY (JUNE 2005 -FEBRUARY 2008) FRANK RIZZO was born June 2005. With all members (Nick, Troy, Grant, Scotty, Matt and Romano) being massive fans of telephone pranksters The Jerky Boys for years, we thought it would be funny to start a 6-piece thrash band with a bit of tongue in cheek madness. After constantly reading about all these bands forming using peoples names as their band name (we still don’t know why bands do that), there was no other option than to name ours after one of our imaginery heroes, FRANK RIZZO, the underground mob-gangster-icon from Chicago. The debut show for RIZZO was at a party 3 weeks after forming and was the 1st time the whole band had even all played together as a full 6-piece band. Having only 1 song to play, which we played twice in a row to make it sound longer, our silly band was unleashed…Recorded stuff = a sold out split CD with fellow Sydney misfits ROFL in May 2006… Notching up a lot of shows around Sydney and its outskirts with the likes of TOE TO TOE, DREAMKILLERS, HARD-ONS, MASSAPPEAL, FAST TIMES, NURSERY CRIMES, GRAND FATAL, DEMOLITION HIGH STYLE, TWIN CITY FACTION, R.O.F.L, VIOLENT ABUSE, BLITZ BABIEZ, GILGAMESH, FATTURA DELLA MORTE, IF PROVOKED, The NEW JUSTICE TEAM, REX BANNER, NINTENDO POLICE, WORSE OFF, T.H.U.G, CAPT’N MY CAPT’N, R.U.S.T, TENTH DAN, SPEARTACKLE, NO LOVE LOST, FLAME THE FIRE, SORDID, UNPAID DEBT, EBOLIE, KILL A CELEBRITY and a heap of other crazy ass bands, plenty of good times were had. Mid Jan 2008, Nick decided to leave and Romano steps up from bass to 2nd guitar duties to fill his shoes while Big Johnny Faction (ex-Twin City Faction) joins on bass.
