Demilich is a technical death metal band from Kuopio, Finland, formed in 1990. The group is recognized for its highly guttural vocal style and distinctive, complex approach to death metal composition, characterized by unconventional song structures and harmonies.

Demilich released one full-length album, "Nespithe," in 1993. The album has since become a cult classic in the death metal genre. The band initially disbanded in 1995 following the release of this album.

In 2005, Demilich briefly reformed and performed a series of shows in the United States during May and June 2006. Their final performance of this period took place on July 22, 2006, at a festival in Kuopio.

Fulfilling a previous commitment, Demilich returned for two performances in 2010: a warm-up show in Kuopio on August 5 and a second show in Oulu on August 14. The band reformed again in 2014, both for live performances and to release "20th Adversary of Emptiness," a compilation album that includes the band’s complete discography, remastered from the original tapes, along with new artwork, liner notes, and previously unreleased material.

In 2014, it was announced that Demilich would perform at the 2015 Maryland Deathfest. Since then, the band has continued to appear live and has expressed openness to recording new material.
