MUSIC OF SUFISM: UNDIVIDED INDIA W/ ATTIA SHIRAZ
Attia Shiraz curated Awaken: Sufi Music and Women of South Asia at theRoyal College of Music Museum. In this episode she shares music of Sufism from a place of love, undivided India and beyond the boundaries of qawwali music.
The mix includes folk, jazz, film, qawwali and field recordings of Instrumentals. It begins in Kashmir, to Punjab, Gujarat and ends in Sindh taking us through transitions: states of separation and longing for the beloved, meditative to awakening, ending in dhamaal, to dance in celebration.
