Maria Kasstan is a Toronto folk singer-songwriter and activist member of The Raging Grannies.

Maria first recorded an album in the 1975, but then took 30 years off from music to focus on her family. After the tragic and controversial death of her husband in front of the Toronto police headquarters in 2004, Maria returned to her music as a way to deal with her tremendous grief and anger.

Her recent songs are powerful and earthy odes to her late husband, and the struggles of family life…
