David Smeyers was born in Detroit, Michigan. He received his formal musical education at The Juilliard School and, with the help of a Fulbright Grant, at the Conservatoire de Musique in Rouen, France. Mr. Smeyers obtained prizes at the International Clarinet Competitions in Toulon and Paris.
