The Bruce Lee Band

The Bruce Lee Band

The Bruce Lee Band has been played on NTS shows including Light in the Attic, with Division In The Heartland first played on 16 April 2021.

The Bruce Lee Band is the name given to the releases of Mike Park and his backing band which has so far included Less Than Jake and the Rx Bandits.

The band are on Asian Man Records, Mike Park's record label and are officially known as The B. Lee Band to avoid legal complications with the estate of the late Bruce Lee. In an interview, Park stated that after the first album had been released under the "Bruce Lee Band" name, Lee's brother Robert happened to work in the CD manufacturing plant responsible for pressing the album. Robert Lee contacted Park to give him a friendly word of caution that Mike should probably change the name.

The second release, an EP featuring Mike Park and the Rx Bandits, was released in early 2005 under the "Bruce Lee Band" name, titled "Beautiful World".

In 2013, after some ska jams with Jeff Rosenstock, Mike Park decided to revive the project, introducing a new lineup that includes Jeff Rosenstock, Mike Huguenor, and Kevin Higuchi. Their Community Support Group EP was released January 28, 2014, on Really Records. Later on that year, the band released their first album after the re-union titled "Everything Will Be Alright, My Friend." The band played a few shows in California in 2014, along with the New Generation of Ska Festival in South Korea. In 2019, Mike Park posted a picture on social media indicating that the band was working on new material. Featured in the picture were Dan Potthast, Mike Park, Kevin Higuchi and Jeff Rosenstock. Trombonist Gerry Lundquist of MU330 and Skankin' Pickle and John DeDomenici of Bomb the Music Industry, frequently perform live with the band as well.

In 2022, the band released their second album after the re-union, titled "One Step Forward. Two Steps Back."
