The Pennies

The Pennies has been played on NTS shows including Sara A, with Heroes Of The Night first played on 21 June 2022.

So some of you might be asking why a band that recently performed for the first time in 5 years up on Last.fm, right? Well, we put a lot of work into a 10 song album between 2000-2002 and it FINALLY was released! Yes, I said it: "10,000 Things" came out on NOV. 28th, 2006 on EAR X-TACY RECORDS. Four and half years after we finished it, we are finally nudged the little bird out of the nest. It was recorded in a house I lived in on Stevens Ave. in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville. Kevin Coultas (Rodan, Come, Rachels, Sonora Pine, Retsin) was our engineer and George Martin-type. The delays are not worth explaining: you don't care and neither do we. You can order it from www.earx-tacy.com or off of www.darla.com (for those of you who aren't in the 'ville). So if you need a little refresher course, we began in 1995 and toured lots of America and part of Europe until 2002. We toured with the Archers of Loaf and Creeper Lagoon at one point. A little later we opened for House of Large Sizes in the midwest. Along the way we also shared stages with Superchunk, The Fixx, The Grifters, Those Bastard Souls, Apples in Stereo, Mike Watt, Vhs or Beta, and My Morning Jacket. This doesn't really say a lot about our music. For that, you will have to listen to our albums "Come We Go" and "10,000 Things". They will give you a better insight into our psychedelic blend of damaged rock and roll. For those of you that need immediate reference right now, add a little bit of The Beatles, Sonic Youth, The Grifters, Big Star, Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, etc. and you might get a better idea of where we come from. Are we going to play again? Yes. Well, at least some of us. But it will be me (Jeremy Podgursky - singer/songwriter/guitarist) and Dave Walker (guitar) for sure, and the rest of the band will be well schooled. Keep an eye out and please buy the album. Hope to see you someplace soon.
