Loose Ends, the London trio formed of guitarist and vocalist Carl McIntosh, vocalist Jane Eugene and keyboardist Steve Nichol, moulded their sound in the era of playful genre melding that directly followed disco's populist decline. Their uniquely eighties fusion of R&B, post-disco rhythm, & sensuous vocal performances were instrumental in defining what is now considered UK street soul. Instrumental too, was the glossy production aesthetic of Nick Martinelli, who worked closely with the group on five albums. This In Focus is a trip through the silken post-disco & pop of Loose Ends. This show is currently unavailable in the USA.

Despise You

Despise You

Despise You has been played on NTS shows including Pure Soil, with Busted Outlook first played on 13 June 2015.

California’s purest personification of hate, formed in Inglewood in the year 1995 . The band utilises a dual vocal style with male & female vocals coupled with a raw, downtuned sound that takes more metal influences than some of their peers, especially from Death Metal (they have covered Possessed songs, for example). Lyrically, the band primarily focuses around inner city issues and things relating to the experiences of down-on-their-luck folk of these areas, mainly from a personal perspective - Things like drug abuse, gang criminality, gentrification, or suicide are common in their lyrics.

Although they've had irregular activity since the beginning, releasing no material throughout the 2000's and only ever releasing a single piece of material that was not a split with another band, they regularly play shows. They also created the Pessimisser label, releasing important compilations of heavy music such as the "Cry Now, Cry Later" series. Overall, Despise You is one of the most influential powerviolence bands to have come out of the scene in the 90's, with many modern acts, such as Hatred Surge or In Disgust, being influenced them or covering them.
