NewJeans (Hangul: 뉴진스; Katakana: ニュージーンズ; also known as NJZ (Hangul: 엔제이지)), is a South Korean girl group under ADOR. As of December 29, 2025, the group is composed of four members: MINJI (민지), HANNI (하니), HAERIN (해린) and HYEIN (혜인). They are known for their ‘girl next door’ image and musical stylings reminiscent of the 1990s and 2000s.

On December 29, 2025, ADOR officially announced that they had terminated DANIELLE 's contract with the company.

Group Name Meaning: As NewJeans, jeans are known for their timeless fashion, each generation has its new style of jeans. A wordplay of “new genes”, which implicate that the group will be going in a new generation of pop music. NewJeans Official Fandom Name: Bunnies (Tokki/토끼)

Group History: The group debuted on July 22, 2022, with the single “Attention”, their first number-one song on South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart. It was followed shortly afterwards by two other singles, “Hype Boy” and “Cookie”, with the former becoming the longest-running song on the Billboard Global 200 by a K-pop female act. The singles were all featured on their eponymous debut extended play (EP), released in August 2022. In January 2023, they released their first single album, OMG, to commercial success. It was accompanied by two singles, “Ditto” and “OMG”. “Ditto” gained widespread popularity, becoming the longest-running number-one song on the Circle Digital Chart and the group’s first entry on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart.

Their second EP, Get Up, peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 and sold over one million copies in South Korea. Its lead single, “Super Shy”, became the group’s highest-charting single on the Billboard Global 200 (number two), the US Billboard Hot 100, and the UK Singles Chart. NewJeans has received rookie awards and was featured in listicles such as Time’s Next Generation Leaders and Forbes’s Korea Power Celebrity 40. IFPI named NewJeans the eighth best-selling artist worldwide in 2023.

NewJeans is currently going through legal trouble as a result of them attempting to terminate their contract with their agency, ADOR. On February 7, the group revealed their new name, “NJZ”, seeking to proceed independently. Later, on March 21, the Seoul Central District Court granted an injunction to ADOR, and the group was prohibited from conducting independent activities without the agency’s consent. Two days later, the group performed at ComplexCon Hong Kong, AsiaWorldExpo, and presented a new song titled “Pit Stop”, which topped the MelOn search charts, a performance that marked a new musical phase for the group. At the event, NewJeans announced a hiatus in activities following the Korean court’s decision. However, the group continued to fight for the termination of their contract and their freedom to remain in the entertainment industry, a victory that, if achieved, would positively impact legislation regarding rights for K-pop artists.

On October 30th, as both rounds of mediation between NewJeans and ADOR failed, the court ruled that the contract remains valid, despite the aforementioned evidence, resulting in a projected hiatus until mid-2029. On November 12th, the members announced their return to ADOR.
