There are at least two artists who perform as Lawrence Power: 1) A world-renowned classical viola player, and 2) A chiptune/8-Bit artist who records for the Pterodactyl Squad label.
1) Lawrence Power is an acclaimed violist who has won numerous international prizes as well as being selected for the BBC 'New Generations' Scheme, which led to numerous broadcasts in recital and as a soloist with the BBC Orchestras.
Since his solo debut with The Philharmonia in London, Power has been highly sought after in the UK and abroad, appearing as soloist with orchestras such as The London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Lucerne Festival Strings, Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra (Sweden), Center Symphony of New York and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
Power has appeared as a soloist at the BBC Proms and is committed to expanding the viola repertoire, giving world premieres of many pieces written for him, including works by Sally Beamish, John Kaefer, Colin Matthews, Mark-Anthony Turnage and Andrew Toovey, and Huw Watkins.
2) Lawrence Power is a chiptune/8-Bit recording artist who draws influence from the music and sound effects of the Nintendo Entertainment System and subsequent games consoles, particularly the work of David Wise and Motoi Sakuraba.
