Justis Brokenrope (Sičháŋǧu Lakȟóta) is a musician and educator currently residing in Bdé Óta Othúŋwe, Mní Sóta (Minneapolis, Minnesota). Wathéča Radio is an offshoot of Wathéča Records, a label and archival project focused on North American indigenous artists who were often overlooked in the canons of rock, folk, and country music. Brokenrope hosts his radio shows completely in Dakhóta, the eastern dialect of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (the seven Lakota and Dakota tribal nations), and the original language of the land he presently resides on. Starfire has been played on NTS in shows including Mint Condition w/ Randy Ellis, featured first on 16 November 2014. Songs played include Make the Most of It , Loneliness Has Got Me Down and Get Up Everybody .

There are at least three different musical acts by the name STARFIRE:

The 1974 Progressive Rock group from California signed to Crimson Records which released only 200 copies of its debut album on vinyl.

The Richmond, Virginia based Funk band active on the Dynamic Artists Records And Tapes label from 1976 to 1980.

The name of a rock act from Los Angeles with the album “Eye of the Storm” released April 30, 2010.

Keyboardist & lead vocalist Dairenn Lombard has been playing synthesizer keyboard and electric/acoustic guitar for over 23 years, and writing songs for nearly 15 years, Dairenn has spent the past eight years in his home studio engineering and mixing the recordings, including those for the 2010 debut CD “Eye of the Storm.” When not recording, he has spent the last two years performing solo, acoustic sets throughout southern California.
