In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Japan became the birthplace of a distinctive and intense form of psychedelic music, emerging from the underground scene and centred around pioneering labels like PSF Records. This movement was marked by a raw, dissonant, and fuzzed-out sound that combined elements of noise, free jazz, and traditional psychedelic rock. This two hour show documents the sounds of several key bands that played a significant role in shaping this unique musical landscape such as Fushitsuha, Les Rallizes De Nudes, Shizuka, Acid Mothers Temple and more.

Endellion String Quartet has been played on NTS shows including YL HOOI, with String Quartet No.2 In C, Op.36 first played on 16 November 2023.

The Endellion String Quartet was formed in 1979 and its members have been together for over 25 years. It is widely recognized as one of the finest chamber ensembles in the world. The all-British string quartet has been 'Quartet in Residence' at Cambridge University since 1992. It has an impressive discography and is much in demand in concert halls around the world. In 1997 the quartet received the award for 'Best Chamber Ensemble' from the Royal Philharmonic Society. They are currently recording cycle of Beethoven's quartets, string quintets and quartet fragments. The second volume, Op.18/3 and Op.132, represents their finest artistic achievement of the 21st century thus far.
