1) The Minstrels/Les Minstrels was Canadian garage/psych band formed 1986 in Quebec City. They relocated to Vancouver in the early 90s and finally moved to San Francisco in the late 90s.

Their sound, associated with genres such as folk noir, dark folk, and gothic folk, mainly comprised acoustic and electric guitar, bass, accordion, piano, keyboard, and musical saw. Their songs are emotionally direct and usually built on a core of acoustic instrumentation, but liberal use of reverb, delay and other effects often gives them an ethereal quality. In 2005--after playing, recording, and evolving through various lineups--they joined the roster of Klem North Records, a Pennsylvania-based label founded by Samezvous of the band Los Halos. Their debut full-length, "Our Cruel Demise", was released in August 2006. The follow-up was released in early 2009.
