Nicky Benedek and Alex Talan, both integral figures in the Los Angeles music scene, have collaborated on various projects over the years. Benedek, known for his deep dive into '80s-inspired boogie and West Coast G-funk, and Talan, also known as Coolwater, who has a penchant for jazz noir and vintage synthesizers, joined forces with Anthony Calonico to form Total Blue. Their collaboration began as an extension of their previous works, including contributions to Coolwater’s self-titled EP in 2020. Total Blue’s debut album, "Nineteen in Love," was released in 2021. The album showcased their ability to merge analog warmth with modern electronic elements, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
