Joanna Noëlle Levesque (born December 20, 1990 in Brattleboro, VT) , known professionally as JoJo, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Raised in Foxborough, Massachusetts, she began performing in singing competitions and local talent shows from a young age. In 2003, record producer Vincent Herbert noticed her after she competed on the television show America's Most Talented Kids and asked her to audition for his record label Blackground Records. Having signed with them that same year, JoJo released her eponymous debut studio album the following year in June 2004. It peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200 and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), selling over four million copies worldwide to date.

Jojo was also a project of Austrian guitarist Robby Musenbichler, founded in 1986. This ensemble released their eponymous album in 1988. It was the only album this formation put out. The formation disbanded in 1989.

More recently, JOJO is the new name that former greek emo-rapper Yungnsad has switched to, in order to signify a change in his sound leaning towards an alternative form of R&B.

JoJo, real name : Joanne Kemp is a U.K. R'n'B singer who was signed to Urbanstar records in 2000 and debuted at 16 with the single Talkin' About Ya. It was released on Vinyl in the U.K and Japan but was released as a single on CD in Australia by Hardwax, a sub-label of the most predominant dance label in Australia Central Station, featuring on their most popular Dance compilation Series Various - Wild Volume 14. The predominant version was the remix by Rishi Rich but the track failed to make any significant noise on the radio or charts, even with some airplay. She completed an album released by Japanese Label Brownsugar Records which featured writing and production by labelmate Elisha La'Verne and Steven Sherin. Her next singles were Tonite and Best Friend, which both failed to gain decent club play and after the next single People Hold On further failed to make any waves in clubs, as a DJ only promo, Urbanstar made a last ditch attempt to gain her more exposure, putting out Sweet Honey Love on multiple compilations in 2002 as her career was coming to an end and the Label recorded no new music with her.
