As a newcomer to the electronic scene, the young producer, vocalist, and DJ, The Neighborhood Character spins a range of genres, from driving house of past & present, to broken-beat, disco and electro; and soulful and ethereal techno sounds. Ari is currently active in the Berlin underground scene and, as a DJ, has performed at events and venues such as the legendary Gegen in Kit-Kat-Club, Tresor's Globus and +4Bar, H.M.S. Hoppetosse, and Schwuz, opening for artists such as Volcov, Tama Sumo, Lakuti, Lars Bartkuhn, and Paul Johnson among others. She made her debut as a live performer at 2015's Freerotation Festival in collaboration with Eric Douglas Porter a.k.a. Afrikan Sciences, (with whom she published a joint EP on the electronic label Uzuri in May 2015) and Armon Bazile, a.k.a. AYBEE, and returned to Freerotation in 2017 with Afrikan Sciences as Old Shady Grady and the Neighbourhood Character. In addition to pursuing interventionist research around politics and praxes of marginalised electronic producers, The Neighbourhood Character hosts a regular show on Berlin Community Radio and is an core member of the recently-launched Woodwork collective.
