Formed by alto sax player and composer Roman Norfleet, cellist and multi-instrumentalist Harlan Silverman, and pianist Kennedy Verrett—who also plays a wide variety of wind instruments—, The Cosmic Tones Research Trio focuses on healing music that creates peaceful, immersive soundscapes, which the group develops through their combined background in acoustic ecology, sound meditation, mindfulness, and active community involvement.

Building on the foundations laid out by Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders and Sun Ra, Roman Norfleet's Portland-based outfit The Cosmic Tones Research Trio make sincere healing music that's spiritually rich and completely immersive, augmenting their piano, cello and horn meditations with rich flute tones and delicate electronics.
