Joel Tammik

Joel Tammik

Joel Tammik has been played on NTS in shows including Fractal Meat On A Spongy Bone, featured first on 24 January 2014. Songs played include Galopp, Helk and Minek.

Joel Tammik began his musical journey at the beginning of the 90s playing bassguitar in different school bands. After Estonia’s emancipation and the collision of the iron curtain several cultures of western electronic music appeared on the local world of music and different raves took place in abandoned factory buildings. Around 1996 Joel met with the members of local jungle duo LU:K where he at first played the bass but some years later began also to compose tracks. After the millennium Joel grew a bigger interest in more experimental music and together with one member of LU:K, Myrakaru – a project cultivating IDM music was founded. After the release of a successful full-length album and one 7-inch vinyl single under the British label Expanding Records, the duo decided to part their ways as the musical directions were too different. Already the same year Joel released his solo album under the Belgian label called U-Cover. The following years brought about several full-length and mini albums under U-Cover as well as Cactus Island, another British label. By now Joel has also left his mark in the history of local electronic music with the help of labels like Ulmeplaadid and Nemos Music. By founding a small record company Väli in 2010 Joel has taken a mission of releasing in-depth, thoughtful sound and pleasing the listeners both here and across the border.
