Arandel

Arandel has been played on NTS in shows including Wiggly World w/ Heaty, featured first on 10 February 2020. Songs played include Bodyline (Eris Drew Jeep Beets Lullaby Mix), Riley Keyboard Study 2, Version 3 (Arandel Remix) and In D#1.

First of all, Arandel is a political commitment, the quest of an authentic and organic sound, a sound dogma, where the rules are deliberately strict – only resorting to his own recordings (no MIDI, no plugins, only analog synths), only his own instruments. Arandel is an experimental hub, where creation stays flexible. A Contemporary Classical Music in the broad sense of the word, with no stylistic boundaries. An original concept, a whole unheard-of sound.

The project Arandel is a secret entity whose only function is to let the music take centre stage. With an intriguing academic background underscoring a rich, cinematic and mesmerising collection of sound collages, along the lines of Murcof's Martes, Arandel's music kickes up a fuss in both modern electronic and classic music. Seemingly an established musician wanting to do it anonymously, and inspired by Terry Riley's In C, and the Dogme 95 collective, Arandel facelessly proposed a project with its creator, more than a mere unidentified being, is above all a multi-instrumentalist who would like his true identity to remain in the background on this project. Showing many facets to the world, all underpinned by experimental music, Arandel is a new workshop for this pop craftsman, brought up on krautrock, electro and New York minimalism. Freud claimed that ‘accumulation puts an end to the impression of chance’, and it’s through a fortunate sequence of events that Arandel came to be. Whilst up to then its creator had composed music with the ‘control freak’ approach of a perfectionist songwriter, Arandel is a project that is open to all kinds of input, variations and accidents, as they pave the way for more experimentation.
