The Realms came into existence when Nick Pilmeyer from Veldhoven started a new band with his best friend and bass player Sjoerd Baarends in 2006. After many changes in the line up they now have a strong and stable group together, having been completed by Thomas Plandsoen on keys and David van Dun on drums. In the beginning they made grunge like rock with Nirvana being the main influence. However, they've now grown to a completely new style, mixing pop, blues, funk and psychedelic/progressive rock and metal. Their main influences are Pink Floyd, Muse, Porcupine Tree, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Frank Zappa. Now the band is releasing their new EP, called Emotions for Supper.
