The Stench Band has been played on NTS shows including Charlie Satsumas, with Sleepytime In Dildotown first played on 16 August 2025.

The Stench Band was formed in Omaha, Nebraska (of all places!) in the early 1970s. It was a mix of different artists, with huge influence from Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band. While largely unnoticed at the time, it gained a modicum of popularity in the late 1990s, when someone bought a used album at a garage sale. Finally, someone noticed!

The Stench Band produced four albums to date. The final one, Pray for the Fred, was a compendium of their "Greatest Hits", if an unrecognized band can have greatest hits. It is available on vinyl.

The Stench Band still continues to produce music, mostly via cyberspace. All of its members have gotten on with their lives. Dave works for the Human Resources department at a huge corporation in Southern California. Ken is a successful business man and spiritual leader for a Church in Omaha. Mark is an Assistant Dean at a well-known university on the East Coast. Chuck is the Chair of a Department of Astronomy at a Science Center.
Paul is the artist featured on all their albums. He still resides in Omaha.

So, this motley crew has achieved a modicum of success in the real world, while the music from their pasts continues to haunt them at the oddest moments. The music has achieved recognition world wide, albeit on a very minor level.
