Monique Miller

Monique Miller has been played on NTS in shows including SOS Radio w/ Sofie, featured first on 2 September 2015. Songs played include Right Places (Wet Mix Reprise) and Step Into My Life.

Music for the soul, Monique Miller is ready to bring healing through her songs. In the same vein as platinum selling artists, India.Arie, Jill Scott and Erykuh Badu, Monique brings her own unique stylings to make music that is thoughtful, spirited and soulful. Monique has been singing from a very young age, influenced by artists like Chaka Khan, Phyliss Hyman, Angela Bofill, and Minnie Ripperton. Monique sang in the Shiloh Baptist Church Choir and continued her love of gospel music by becoming a member of the Men and Women of the Gospel Mass Choir in Washington, D.C.

Not regulated to the studio, Monique has sung and toured with accomplished jazz pianist, Andy Milne, who plays a style of jazz known as Mbase, which deals with complicated rhythms. The tour included stops in Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Seattle, Oakland, San Jose, Washington, D.C. among others. She performed at the IAAM, International African-American Music Conference, in Philadelphia, PA and received accolades from then President Diana Williams, “Monique Miller is a refreshing, impressive and inspirational artist for the next millennium.” Another artist of note that performed at this venue is upcoming artist Jaguar Wright.

This windy city native was a part of the initial Soul Underground promotion that came out of Atlanta that included performances with Grammy nominated artist India.Arie.

This soulstress continued to hone her skills singing with the Will Smith Quartet at the BET on Jazz Restaurant, where she decided to test her mettle and give way to the creative energy that longed to be free. This energy manifests itself in Monique’s highly anticipated self-titled debut album, “Monique Miller”. This music will appeal to a varied audience of music lovers, whether it be Soul, R & B, Hip-Hop, or House, Monique creates from within to share with the masses. So sit back, relax, and prepare to enjoy Monique Miller and the messages in her music. “Monique creates from within to share with the masses”

After leading a quartet under his own name (The Will Smith Quartet) for several years, W.E.S. decided to form a group with a different focus. He wanted the group to transcend the traditional classification of jazz from strictly art music, to music that has a world sensibility and is not only enjoyed but inspires the best in people. W.E.S. is currently an Assistant Professor of music and the Jazz Ensemble director at American University. He also gives lectures on jazz, hip hop and spirituality at the University of Maryland, University of Delaware, and Howard University.
