Ø has been played on NTS over 80 times, featured on 72 episodes and was first played on 28 June 2015.

Ø was one of several aliased used by the late Finnish electronic musician, Mika Vainio (1963-2017). Vainio was best known as a member of Pan Sonic, but he also released music under his real name, has well as under the aliases Ø, Kentolevi, Philus and Tekonivel.

During his life he released seven albums under the Ø moniker, the first of which was Metri (1994). The albums Kiteet (2020) and Sysivalo (2025) were released posthumously. Ø shares Pan Sonic's analogue sound and experimental approach, but is oriented more towards the dancefloor.

Mika Vainio died in France on 12 April 2017, aged 53.
