Aboutface presents a special show in collaboration with the Amazonian Indigenous Wampís people, featuring 100% co-created music and conversation about the project and how it was developed. Celebrating the release of their collaborative album Los Bosquesinos, the show raises awareness—and vital support—for the Wampís Nation as they resist ecocide, including illegal gold mining, across their 1.3 million hectares of globally significant rainforest territory. NOTE: It seems there is another band that is listed on Last.fm as The Type. This information is related to the band out of Madison, WI.
The Type was formed by Jeri Casper and Terri Schanen. They met on MySpace in 2004. They wrote some songs in Terri's basement apartment and then tried out some drummers. One of these potential drummers gave them their name, after remarking that he knew "The Type," referring to something Jeri or Terri had done that was naughty.
They finally found a drummer, Mitch Pilon, and played a handful of shows in Madison and Milwaukee, including the infamous underwear party. Sadly (or not), this would be the last time Jeri would get down to her skivvies in public.
Jeri and Terri parted ways for awhile, inevitably reuniting in 2006 as Clamorous with drummer Jill Nagler. Clamorous played several energetic and fun shows throughout 2006.
Clamorous disbanded in very early 2007 and Terri and Jeri once again became The Type. Mitch rejoined and there were some sporadic shows here and there. The Type was briefly joined by Jason Loeffler on guitar in late 2007. After one show, both Mitch and Jason moved on to colleges and new careers, and Terri and Jeri began the laborious search for the perfect drummer.
After a few months, Jeri met Tim Spinler on Craigslist. But not like in some gross "casual encounters" way. It was the "musicians" section. Tim also happened to be Jeri's neighbor, living literally just a block away. He loaded up his Radio Flyer with drums and awesomeness, walked over and immediately meshed with the ladies. Soon after, Terri's younger sister, Alyssa Schanen, joined the band on guitar. After just a month of practice (and just two weeks for Alyssa), this lineup played their first show together in March 2008 and were very well received.
Since that show, we have played a few more. We will be releasing an album in 2009!
